The Best Way To Stream Music To Your HiFi

What could it be ? what could be the best thing ever to stream music to your HiFi

Well after using a Bluetooth Receiver to stream music from my PC or iPad to my HiFi for the last few years i got myself a Raspberry Pi 2 i wasn't sure what to do with the little device but after having a read and with a little help from Volumio i found out it can be used as receiver / network player when plugged into your HiFi

All you need to do is download Volumio from and copy to a Micro SD card and plug the pi into your HiFi and then turn on your Raspberry Pi you don't need to have the Pi plugged into your TV to setup as it can all be done via any web browser by going to http://volumio.local/

Right off the bat it will play music from a USB Dongle plus if your using iTunes on your PC it will come up as a option as a playback device (Airplay)

You can also play directly from a iPad

You can also use with a network hard drive as i use a WD My Book Live all you have to do is go into  the Library within the Volumio Menu with any browser and Mount the drive which is just a case of adding the Network hard drives ip address and then the Remote directory which will be something like Public/Shared Music/ Don't worry about Username and Password and after a little while depending on how may folders / Albums you have your music will show up in your Library

That's it really and your be sitting back enjoying your music :)
